The Niutougou ore area (~31 t Au) is located in the Xiong’ershan district in the southern margin of the NCC. Archean gneiss and amphibolite from the Taihua Group and Mesoproterozoic volcanic rocks from the Xiong’er Group are exposed in this district. The Mesozoic Wuzhangshan granite pluton and Huashan granite complex are located in the eastern and northern parts of the ore area. Gold deposits mainly occur at the unconformity surfaces of the Xiong’er Group and Taihua Group. From north to south, Niutougou is divided into three parts, corresponding to the gold deposits in the Songligou altered rocks, the J25–J26 breccia, and the Shangzhuang altered rocks. There are three main types of faults in this area: (1) NW-trending faults, including F101 and F301-F305, which control the Songligou and Shangzhuang gold deposits; (2) N-trending faults, including F201 and F202, which control the J25 and J26 gold deposits; and (3) late NE-trending F401–F405, which are destroying the gold deposits there. Some granite porphyry and quartz porphyry dykes occur in the J26 breccia-hosted gold deposit and the Shangzhuang gold deposit, and the zircon LA–ICP–MS ages are 166.8 ± 4.1 Ma (granite porphyry) and 174 Ma (quartz porphyry), respectively.
