Chaillac (Limousin: Chalhac) is a commune in the Indre department in central France.

The commune is traversed by the river Anglin. The surrounding land is primarily clay, which results in ground cracking and building shifts throughout the region.

Château de Brosse, located in the old town of Brosse, was the possession of the Viscounts de Brosse, who were powerful in the Middle Ages and even had their own mint in the eleventh century. However, the village was created around the castle, located in a cul-de-sac. Chaillac was never completed, especially after being destroyed by the Anglo-Poitou in 1370.

"Southwest of Argenton-sur-Creuse on the N20. After 4 km, go right at the fork in the road onto the D1 until Saint-Benoit-du-Sault and take the D36 to the right. Baryte, fluorite, hematite, and manganese at the mine close to Bel Rio." [Belot, 1978]

"Brosse: (Chaillac). See the itinerary of the latter locality. Take the road south leading to Brosse castle. At 'la Redoutière', old quarries with baryte, fluorite, galena, and hematite." [Belot, 1978]
