Name:
The name finescreekite is for Fines Creek, the nearest town to the mine (5.5 km due east), and for the creek itself, which runs through the town and comes within about 2.5 km of the mine. It is worthy of note that light reflecting off of the ridged faces of finescreekite crystals looks much like light reflecting off of ripples in a stream. Furthermore, the original name of Fines Creek (prior to the late 1700s) was Crystal Creek.
Another new thiosulfate from the Redmond mine; compare redmondite, hydroredmondite, hexathioplumbite, cubothioplubmite, hayelasdiite, and boojumite. Also comparable to steverustite and fassinaite.
