Name:
Named in honor of Orlando Hammond Lyman (19 November 1903, Hawaii, USA – 11 December 1986, Hilo, Hawaii, USA), the Lyman House Memorial Museum's founder. He built its mineral and gem collection of over 20 000 specimens. The new mineral was found as a specimen taken from his collection.

Dark brown, radiating, tightly packed rosettes that form spheres 2-3 mm in diameter, or more irregular aggregates resembling a botryoidal texture in cross section.
