A lead-zinc-silver-copper-nickel mine in northern Shan State, 50 km WNW of Lashio.
The deposit was mined since the early 1400s (initially by the Chinese).
Bawdwin is derived from baw, the Shan word for silver and literally means ‘silver mine’.
Siliciclastic-felsic VHMS-type.
0.8 Mt @ 22.8% Pb, 13.9% Zn, 1.1% Cu, 670 g t−1 Ag with Co and Ni credits
Ore is processed at the Namtu Smelter.
The deposit was mined since the early 1400s (initially by the Chinese).
