Monument Valley lacks clearly delineated geographical boundaries. Monument Valley is approximately 1,100 square miles on the Utah-Arizona state line. It occupies parts of SE Utah and NE Arizona and is near the eastern border of these states in the Four Corners region. It is within the central part of the Colorado Plateau.

Mineralization is in the Shinarump member of the Chinle Formation and the Moenkopi Formation. All uranium ore deposits are in symmetric & asymmetric troughs (62 channels), cut into the Moenkopi formation & the DeChelly Sandstone member of the Cutler formation and are filled with sedimentary rocks.
