Nepheline-natrolite syenite intrusion.

Dietrich (1990), Minerals of Virginia, mentions the non-existent locality - "Bulk Mountain (6.6 miles northwest of Parnassus)" There is no such mountain in this region, let alone 6.6 miles from Parnassus. The "Superb crystals of natrolite, analcime and other minerals", Dietrich, page 33, refers to the Buck Hill locality, 4 miles WNW of Parnassus. There is another unrelated Buck Mountain 17 miles northwest of Parnassus. No syenite or related rocks are known there. Dietrich's miss-attribution of this locality is understandable. The original primary reference: "Johnson R.W., and Charles Milton, 1963, and also 1965 (?), Alkalic complex and related rocks in the Southern Shenandoah Valley, Augusta and Rockingham Counties, Virginia: Field trip outline for Geology and Geography Section of Virginia Academy of Science", is very difficult to read, being an old "dittoed" (spirit copies ??) handout. The field trip was apparently held in both 1963 and either 1965 or 1966. The 1963 handout is the only similar reference in the library of the Virginia Division of Mineral Resources, in Charlottesville, that is, there is no 1965 or 1966 copy available.
