Vote for your favorite mineral in #MinCup26! - Quartz vs. Asagiite
It's a classic vs a newbie as the most common named mineral in the crust Quartz is up against an exceedingly-rare sea foam-green mineral discovered just a few years ago Asagiite.

The Rødsand Iron Mines was a medium sized mine, extracting a relatively low-grade magnetite ore. Mining commenced in 1899 and stopped in 1981. The lowest level was at 580 below sea level. The entire production was processed in Norway. Total production was 15 million tons of ore, resulting in 4 millions of tons of concentrate. At its most the mine employed 192 workers (1960) (Berg et al. 2016).

The ore consists of disseminated to semi-massive Fe-Ti oxides within amphibolite. The crude ore contained 25-30 % magnetite, 3,5-4 % ilmenite and 0,15-0,20 % V. The ore was used for the production of pig iron and ferrovanadium (NGU Focus nr. 7 Feb. 2019, see online reference below).
