The Taoguanping is a typical medium molybdenum deposit (metal resource of 0.05 Mt @ 0.098% Mo) in the western Mangling pluton. The Taoguanping molybdenum orebodies mainly occur as veins and lenticular, and are hosted by biotite plagioclase quartz schist and silicified plagioclase quartz schist of the Sichakou Formation. The orebodies are mainly 20–130 m long and 1–10 m wide. here are two mineralization types in the Taoguanping molybdenum deposit: (a) Disseminated molybdenite is mainly hosted in the medium- to fine-grained monzogranite and the molybdenite aggregate is approximately 0.1–0.5 cm; and (b) coarse-grained quartz–sulfide + biotite veined mineralization is 2.5–6.0 cm wide and the sulfides are mainly molybdenite, pyrite, and minor chalcopyrite. the Taoguanping molybdenum deposit can be divided into three stages: quartz–K-feldspar–sulfide stage (Stage I), quartz–polymetallic sulfide stage (Stage II), and quartz–calcite stage (Stage III).
