In total, 81 W- and 144 Mo-ore bodies have been identified in the Sansheng W-Mo deposit. The majority of the ore bodies occur within the Early Cretaceous granite.
The Sansheng deposit, located on the southern margin of NE China, is a medium-scale porphyry W-Mo deposit, with a proven reserve of 17,285 t WO3 at a grade of 0.569 %, and 24,361 t Mo at a grade of 0.226 %. Mineralization is characterized by veinlets and veins with lesser proportions of disseminated ores. The W and Mo ore bodies commonly occur independently within the deposit and yet show a spatial crosscutting relationship. In combination with the occurrence of Cu-Pb-Zn mineralization.
The hydrothermal process in the Sansheng W-Mo deposit can be divided into four stages based on crosscutting relationships and mineral assemblages, including stage 1 of quartz-wolframite-(molybdenite), stage 2 of quartz-molybdenite-(pyrite), stage 3 of quartz-polymetallic sulfides, and stage 4 of quartz-carbonate.
