Located 5-6 km SE of the centre of Evje. A rare element-REE euxenite type granite pegmatite quarried for feldspar and quartz in 6 separate quarries.

Li is the name of a farm about 8 km SE of the center of Evje. Mining for feldspar commenced here with certainty before 1928. Andersen (1931) writes that about 1800 tons of feldspar were mined in the Li 2 quarry so far. After that considerable quantities of feldspar have been mined and the quarry is now the largest in the Evje-Iveland district.

The Li pegmatite is the largest in the district and is at least 1 km long with a width varying from 30 to 250 m. The presence of underground workings indicates that there will be an extension under the overlying amphibolite.

The main quarry is for mineral collectors relatively uninteresting. The only interesting minerals I (Ronald Werner) have ever seen are small crystals of euxenite-(Y) (or polycrase-(Y)??), yellow beryl and rose quartz.

The Li 4 and Li 5 quarries are, on the other hand, very interesting, but new finds depend on renewed activity. Chances to find much of interest on the dumps are not very high.

However, a visit to the quarry is highly recommended. The Norwegian allmannsretten law permits you to freely walk wherever you want, unless explicitly forbidden. Collecting is only allowed with explicit permission from the owner, Mr. Hans Kallenberg, who during the summer usually works in the quarry mining for feldspar.
