The Shangfang tungsten deposit is a large-scale ore system with estimated WO3 resources of 66,500 t and an average ore grade of 0.23%. Regional strata are composed primarily of metamorphic rocks from the Paleoproterozoic Dajinshan Formation and Neoproterozoic Longbeixi Formation, which are intruded by Silurian and Jurassic granites. The Shangfang tungsten deposit is predominantly hosted in the Dajinshan Formation, with coeval Jurassic granitoid intrusions widely developed in the adjacent area. Tungsten ore in the Shangfang deposit is primarily found in quartz veins and as disseminations. Among these, high-grade ores are dominated by scheelite-bearing quartz veins, with disseminated scheelite characteristically distributed along both margins of the veins.
The Dajinshan Formation, as the key ore-hosting unit, is primarily distributed in the center of the deposit, with dominant lithologies of amphibolite and biotite-plagioclase metagranulite, and a north-northeast (NNE) trend. A small amount of Neoproterozoic Longbeixi Formation is exposed in the southwest, with dominant lithologies of mica schist and quartz schist. Dajinshan and Longbeixi Formations have been intruded by Silurian and Jurassic syenogranite, which is developed along the western margin of the deposit. The deposit mainly consists of 12 orebodies that meet the requirements for industrial-grade and thickness, distributed along the outer contact zone of the stocks. The WO3 resources are estimated at 67,966 tonnes, with an average grade of 0.229% WO3.
