Vote for your favorite mineral in #MinCup26! - Quartz vs. Asagiite
It's a classic vs a newbie as the most common named mineral in the crust Quartz is up against an exceedingly-rare sea foam-green mineral discovered just a few years ago Asagiite.

Mina de Pinhal do Souto, Tragos, Chãs de Tavares, Mangualde, Distrito de Viseu, Portugal

Inactive U mine (1922/?).

The deposit was exploited in underground workings and produced 93,091 kg of U3O8 between 1978 and 1989 when it was closed down.

Two dumps were left in the mine area, and these are partially covered by natural vegetation (Neiva et al., 2014).

Mining concession no. 1053 "Pinhal do Souto" registered date 26-07-1921.

The gallery entrance to the mine is collapsed/closed, probably to prevent someone to get in and get hurt.

The site is entirely rehabilitated (information Jacques-Yves Desescaut).
