Delanta (Amharic: ደላንታ) is a woreda (district) in the Amhara Region of Ethiopia which host almost all opal mines in North Wollo Zone.

Delanta is on the 3,000 m high and 1,600 km2 large Ethiopian trap plateau conformed by a sequence of Oligocene volcanic materials, mostly basalt, pyroclastics and some opal-bearing rhyolitic ignimbrite layers.
Valleys crossing the plateau give access to the sub-horizontal volcanic sequence.
There are countless opal mines on the slopes of the valleys following the right felsic rock layer.
