The Nyud-II deposit was discovered in 1931 by geologists M.F. Shestopalov and N.Ya. Kholmyansky. At the same time, its exploration began, which was completed in 1933. As a result of these works, ore reserves amounted to ~1 m. t.; Ni, 3750 t.; and Cu, 3000 t., with an average Ni content of 0.37 wt % and Cu content of 0.30 wt %. The open pit of the Nyud-II deposit uncovered ore-bearing gabbronorite and leuconorite of the critical horizon, as well as host olivine orthopyroxenite and plagioorthopyroxenite.
The ore body of the Nyud-II deposit has the shape of a truncated cone with a thickness of about 40 m. It is represented by both poor sulfide dissemination (1−2 vol %) and thick (5−10 vol %) sulfide dissemination, veinlets, nests, and schlieren of solid sulfides. Disseminations are present everywhere; the richest are concentrated near schlieren of solid sulfides. They are widespread in the central part of the field and have a very irregular shape, sometimes close to rounded with very tortuous boundaries. Schlieren host large quantities of fused silicate grains and are often accompanied by thin veins extending from them. Veins of solid sulfides are up to 30 m long and 40 cm thickness.
