Porphyry molybdenum-copper deposit in the Xilamulun river molybdenum-polymetallic ore belt.

The Chehugou porphyry Mo– Cu mineralization, which contains 120 000 tonnes Mo metal reserves at an average grade of 0.1% Mo and 250 000 tonnes Cu metal reserves at an average grade of 0.14% Cu. Mo mineralization is preferentially localized in the Triassic granite porphyry stock, and vein-type, stockwork, and breccia orebodies are recognized. Vein-type orebodies occur within the Devonian granite and Permian syenogranite in the southern part of the mining area with two major veins (V1 and V2) that are controlled by NE- striking faults. The length of the V1 ore vein is about 400 m, with a thickness varying from 0.6 to 11 m (averaged at 3.6 m) and a depth of 200–300 m. The average grades of copper and molybdenum ores of V1 are 0.7% and 0.17%, respectively. The V2 ore vein is about 300 m long, 0.4–9.2 m thick and 100–280 m deep, with average copper grade of 0.57% and molybdenum grade of 0.16%. Stockwork orebodies consist of veinlets or a network of quartz, quartz–sulphide, and sulphide commonly in the Triassic granite porphyry and adjacent rocks. Individual veinlets are generally less than 2 cm in width.
