Bodengo Valley is a small lateral one in the west side of Chiavenna valley, near Gordona town.
There runs the Boggia, a small river who ends in Novate lake, catching two other river from Garzelli and Soe valley (mt. 1.392), on the hydrographic right.
Bodengo village (1030m) is on the top of road with last parking area. Take care paying the bill for access the road from Gordona to Bodengo (5 euros).
The town is composed by few house, a church, and all around many small gardens with vegetables.
The pathway for upper Bodengo valley starts soon after the first bridge on the Boggia river: it is a large road, available only if you go with a 4x4 car and pass.
The path goes through three alps, characterized by votive chapel, cows and sheep shelters, some chalets.
All over the valley mighty stones remember the Last Glacial Maximum events and the last catastrophic flood in 1983.
Research in Bodengo valley takes place on the riverbed and all over the detrital fan.
Pegmatites are part of the so-called Bodengo pegmatite area, a large region including the upper portions of a series of valleys (Leggia and Cama valleys, Moesa, Graubünden, Switzerland; Bodengo, Soè and Garzelli valleys, Sondrio Province, Lombardy, Italy; Dosso and Darengo valleys, Como Province, Lombardy, Italy) located between the Mesolcina (west) and Mera (east) valleys, Southern Steep Belt of the Central Alps.
