Cr-Ni mining district located at 2 km South side of Carratraca village, place called "Camino Las Minas". The ancient adits, shafts and stockpiles are hardly to find out as the site has been repopulated with dense pine trees forest.

Ores are mainly formed by nickeline-chromite-maucherite veins with minor chloantite, gersdorfite, pentlandite,in cordierite dykes. Nickel smectite group, nepouite (garnierite-pimelite serie) and felsic dykes are also presented (plagioclase,feldspar,dumortierite,quartz,red phlogopite-wonesite). Peridotites which correspond to Lherzolites type are highly fractured and very decomposed, thus the ground turn easily unstable.

The main mining activity was carried out from 1940 to 1960 along XX century.
After ceasing the chromium-nickel activity, there was some minor intentions to work small amounts of low quality diamonds included in garnet eclogite dykes embedded in the alpine lherzolites, as it was highlighted in 1966.

The main shaft 90 meters depth named San Juan is currently flooded.

At certain depth the cordierite dykes cointaned in fresh lherzolites include the chromium-nickel ores occuring very compact and solid, forming nodules and texture called "rosarios", as miners popular designation.
