Jiráskův lom, Běloves


Běloves (German: Bielowes) is a local part of the district town of Náchod in the Hradec Králové Region. It is located in the valley of the river Metuje. The I / 33 road (E67), which is one of the main transport links between the Czech Republic and Poland, the regional road II / 303 and the railway line 026, passes through here. Notable for the Běloves spa with a source of mineral water - Bělovka sours Ida.

The surroundings of Běloves belong to Orlické hory (Mts.) crystalline complex of monotonous chlorite-sericite and graphite-sericite phyllites of proterozoic age. In the centre of that unit is a dome structure with Caledonian granitic massif, called "novohrádecký masív". Copper mineralisation is connected with a coincident lode of granitic porphyry intersecting phyllites. Average copper content is only about 0,02 %. A secondary enriched zone with cuprite is present in the upper part of tectonic zones. Later it was altered by oxidation processes and rich association of secondary copper minerals was developed.
