National Bell Mine


A former Al-Cu-Ag occurrence/mine located on Red Mountain on the Ouray County side of the Ouray-San Juan county line, near Gladstone (San Juan County), on private land. First production occurred in 1995. The pit is centered on the old Cresson mine. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 10 meters.

Mineralization is a breccia pipe composed of chert forming a knob 120 meters in diameter and 60 meters high. Local rocks include intra-ash flow andesitic lavas.

Workings include surface and unspecified underground openings. Surface openings include a pit.
