Tabular to lenticular uranium ore bodies, hosted in Upper Jurassic volcano-sedimentary rocks (ignimbrite and tuffaceous sandstone) within the Shengyuan volcanic basin.

The basin architecture can be broadly divided into three components, i.e., the basement, the volcano-sedimentary succession, and the red-bed cover. From older to younger, the basement comprises (i) the Neoproterozoic Zhoutan Group, a widely distributed metasedimentary pelitic-sandstone sequence, (ii) the Upper Neoproterozoic Hongshan Group, consisting of metamorphosed sandstone exposed along the southeastern basin margin, (iii) the Lower Cambrian Hetang Formation, represented by two-mica schist and quartz schist along the southeastern basin margin, and (iv) the Lower Jurassic Linshan Formation, composed of coal-bearing mudstone and sandstone along the eastern and southern basin margins. The total thickness of these basement successions reaches several kilometers.
