Porphyry tin-copper deposit, located on the eastern margin of of the south-east China Caledonian fold belt, related to the Late Jurassic Mikengshan granitoid intrusion and overlain by Late Cretaceous red beds. The deposit consists of a single orebody, hosted in the contact zone between topaz-bearing granite porphyry and rhyolite porphyry.

The Yanbei porphyry Sn deposit is the largest, situated in the core region of the Mikengshan basin, southeast of the Mikengshan granite intrusion. This deposit contains reserves of 100,120 tons of SnO2 at the average grade of 0.85 %, along with 29,400 tons of associated copper at an average grade of 0.25 %. Historical records from Huichang County reveal that tin mining has been started in the region since the Daoguang period (CE 1820–1850) of the Qing Dynasty. In 1981, the 701 team of geophysical and geochemical exploration surveyed the tin anomaly area, which was followed by the 909 team's construction and drilling activities, leading to the discovery of an 80–100-meter-thick ore body. Open-pit mining commenced once the Yanbei tin mine obtained the necessary mining rights, with the current mining platform reaching a depth of 192 m. Currently, this mine is closed, and there is a significant amount of ore resources remain to be exploited. Tin mineralization primarily exists along the inner and outer contact between the rhyolite porphyry and granite porphyry. The internal zone accounts for 2/3 of the mineralization, while the external zone accounts for 1/3. The deposit consists of three tin ore bodies, namely No. I, II, and III.
No. I ore body is located at an elevation between 345–174 m and has an elliptical shape, with a long axis pointing towards north-northeast and a three-dimensional dustpan shape. Its dimensions are 450 m along its long axis and 250 m along its short axis. No. I ore body contains the majority of tin reserves (>90 %) with the average Sn grade of 0.86 %. No. II ore body occurs at an elevation between 370 m-340 m and appears as a prismatic pinch-out on profile and a tongue-shaped structure on the plane. Its thickness averages at 9.78 m and Sn grade of 0.47 %. No. III ore body is located at an elevation between 194 m-160 m and has an oblate lens shape. It has an average thickness of 6.63 m and an average Sn grade of 0.32 %.
