A medium-sized skarn-type magnetite deposit (discovered in the 1970s) with associated rich gold and cobalt ores. The deposit is composed of two mineralized zones, a south ore zone and a north ore zone. So far, twenty-four ore bodies have been outlined, of which no. 3 is the largest one, with a length of 1 300 m and a width of up to 57 m and a downdip extension of 200 m. All iron ore bodies are located in skarns near the contact zone between gabbro and Sinian epi-metamorphic rocks. The cobalt ore bodies occur both within iron ore bodies and in the skarn outside of them, while the gold ores are only found in the skarns of the north ore zone. Bismuth minerals only occur in the gold ore bodies.


Note: "Gaxun Tal" is the Mongolian name of the locality, while "Kaxiutata" is the transliteration of the Chinese name.
