Steep gorge, well known for canyoning activities, formed by the little Massa river, which only runs a short way from the Aletsch glacier to the river Rhône.
A big cleft with huge quartz crystals, calcite and chlorite was opened up in the 1990s. Veins with copper, lead and zinc ores crop out in the upper part of the gorge. A weak uranium mineralization with finely dispersed pitchblende, argentopyrite, herzenbergite and uranium secondaries has also been reported.
