An old antimony mine on an ENE-trending lode consisting of quartz and siderite, with stibnite and lead-antimony sulphosalts near the surface and mainly galena at greater depth. The workings consist of a shaft that connects to a cross-cut adit which was driven from the valley southwest of Bodannon farm. The grid reference marks the shaft where a small overgrown dump remains. The sett is said to contain two other lodes, but details of them are not known.

The mine was at work in the late 18th century and produced 95 tons of antimony ore between 1774 and 1776. Hogg (1825) states that it "once produced 100 tons a year containing 8 parts in 20 of pure antimony". It was reopened in 1906, but no further production resulted.

In the early 1820's it is recorded that a collection of silver-lead, antimony and copper ore specimens from Old Trewetha was purchased by the British museum for £1000.

As of 2019, no sign of the shaft is visible and the dumps have been mostly cleared, levelled and given over to grass. Only very minor signs of mine waste now visible. A small building still survives as shown on maps dating to 1880 that may possibly have been associated to the mine workings. Occasional blocks of mineral bearing mine waste can be seen incorporated into the walls of buildings adjacent to the mine site.
