In the 17th century about 20 copper-mines were set up to the north and north-west of the church of Feiring, with the smelting works by Flesvikelva.

The Feiring area is also known for a large number of small iron mines (hematite, magnetite). The Feiring Iron Works near Skreikampen is one of the best preserved post-Industrial Revolution ironworks in Norway. The ironworks sites and the remains of the smelter have been carefully restored, with information-posts around the work area.
