Name:
Named for its relationship to mendeleevite-(Ce), with predominant neodymium, following the IMA Levinson nomenclature for REE-bearing minerals. The root name honors of Dmitrii Ivanovich Mendeleev (Дмитрий Иванович Менделеев) (8 February 1834, Verkhnie Aremzyani, Tobolsk Governorate, Russian Empire - 2 February 1907, Saint Petersburg, Russian Empire) - the great Russian chemist, the discoverer of the periodic system. Among many honors in his name, the element mendelevium and a large lunar crater are also named after him.
The Nd-analogue of mendeleevite-(Ce). Unique combination of elements; the first Cs-Nd mineral.
