Named after its discovery locality, Temagami Mine, Temagani Island, Ontario, Canada (an Ojibway word for "deep-clear water").
Structure details (Laufek et al., 2016):
* layer modules set along the c axis
* module A: isolated PdTe6 octahedra, having common faces with octahedra from neighbouring modules
* modules B & F: PdTe6 octahedra and PdTe4 squares
* modules C, D, and E: corner-sharing PdTe4 squares
* Hg atoms present within the anti-cubooctahedral voids formed by Te atoms
* Pd–Pd and Pd–Hg bonds present
* layer modules set along the c axis

* modules B & F: PdTe6 octahedra and PdTe4 squares

It decomposes at about 570°C to PdTe + Hg mercury vapor beginning to form below 500°C.
