Other/historical names associated with this locality:
Davis Mine; Gilsum & Bowers Mine; Gilsum and Victory Mines; Golding-Keene Mine; Rhoda Mine; Tripp No. 2 Mine; Victory Mine

Mine in pegmatite opened about 1810 by Simon Bowers.

In 1941, the workings were 300 feet long by 100 feet wide and 80 feet deep.

Note: The alternate names for the site are either earlier names that have been abandoned or the names of separate mines that were subsumed by the Big Mine as it was enlarged. The Victory Mine is now an "alcove" at the northeast end of the Big Mine; the former Victory mine consists of workings including a large open cut, and was formerly known as the Tripp No. 2 or Rhoda mica mine. The former Gilsum mine lies southwest of the cut and was known as the Bowers or Davis mine.
