A N_S vertical wolfram lode crossing Castle-an-Dinas Hill and running through the centre of the hillfort of that name. There is a cluster of buildings at South Shaft (sunk in 1945 to 650ft) and open stopes and 4 levels in the north side of the hill. There is a granite cupola in the core of the hill and the ore dies out where it enters this rock.
The mine operated during the First and Second World Wars on a limited scale but the main period of working was 1945-58 when about 3,000 tons wolfram were produced.
