Carlin-like disseminated-style gold deposit (Orogenic?), hosted in Middle Triassic sandstones, siltstones and silty mudstones of the upper Banna group. Unlike a typical Carlin deposit, where visible gold is generally absent, microscopic gold grains have been reported from the ore of this locality.

The Jinya gold deposit, with >30 t gold (non-JORC) reserves at an average grade of 3.25 g/t is located in the central-eastern part of the Youjiang basin. The Middle Triassic Baifeng Formation, the main outcropping sequence, can be further divided into three units. The first unit is composed of dolomitic–argillaceous siltstone, the second, the main gold host-rock, comprises silty mudstone intercalated with argillaceous siltstone, and the third is composed of silty mudstone, mudstone, and siltstone intercalated with sandstone and argillaceous siltstone. No igneous intrusions have been recorded. The deposit consists of 20 gently inclined orebodies that strike N–S and dip to east or west.
