Structure: Deer Creek Thrust Fault High Angle E-Trending Faults Cut The Ore Body
Alteration: Metavolcanics Altered To Chlorite & Feldspar Near Ore
Deposit: Mine "has been a consistent producer of high-grade, hard-lump or" since production began in the early 1950's. Average ore grade was 63% iron from 1952-1954. Mining has been by open pit methods. ; info.src : 1 pub lit; 2 unpub rept; 3 field observ replacement along reverse faults near igneous contact.also some hornfels in immediate area, and what appears to be a white altered porous rhyolite dike? which cuts metavolcanic/hornfels sequence in pit area.
Deposit type: Volcanic-hosted magnetite
Development: Open pit mine. No activity in 1984, but road up to mine appears to have been graded not long ago.
Geology: Ore bodies are replacement deposits in metavolcanic rocks in n-trending faults near a diorite contact zone. Magnetic studies indicate that the main mineralized zone is divided into 3 blocks offset progressively on the north
