Diabase outcrops in the valley of Rio dei Molinassi, near Case Lagoscuro, at the border between the municipalities of Ceranesi and Genova.

An old mine is located below Case Lagoscuro, at an elevation of 406 m (44.476599 N, 8.859837 E), on the left side of the streamlet that descends from Fossa Luea (Ceranesi municipality). Mg-rich rocks/ores, used for the production of magnesium sulphate, were extracted from the mine, owned and operated from 1815 to 1825 by Alberto Ansaldo (who also operated the Mt. Ramazzo mine). Building remnants are located in front of the mine, on the right side of the streamlet (Genova municipality).
