Jurassic bauxite (J31,2) from Logatec deposited between the Lower Kimmeridgian (Oxfordian) and Upper Kimmeridgian beds. The J31,2 bauxite profile at Logatec, exposed by the highway section, has a lenticular shape and a thickness of 0.8 m. It formed at the contact between Lower Kimmeridgian (Oxfordian?) open marine massive oolitic limestone (in the footwall) and Upper Kimmeridgian inner platform (lagoon) well-bedded micritic limestone (in the hanging wall). The bauxite profile has a highly heterogeneous structure and texture, ranging from highly weathered purple-reddish oolitic bauxite to yellowish-orange bauxite that is partially weathered into soft orange clay, especially near the contact with the overlying carbonate rocks, and is partially intercalated with hard, silicified bauxite of violet colour. A limestone lens is also present within the bauxite horizon, 0.6 m above the footwall.
