Köppen climate type:
The exposed strata mainly comprises clastics, carbonates, and alkaline volcanic rocks of the Luanchuan Group, which is divided into the basal Baishugou, Sanchuan, Nannihu, Meiyaogou, and upper Dahongkou Formations in the ascending order. The deposit is mainly hosted by the granite porphyry and the Sanchuan marble. Mineralization mainly occurs in calcic skarn (>95%) with a small amount in the Sanchuan marble (<4%) and the granite porphyry (<1%). The calcic skarn is mainly situated along the contacts of the granite porphyry intruded into the Sanchuan marble and characterized by a typical calc-silicate mineral assemblage, dominated by pyroxene, garnet, amphibole, epidote, biotite, actinolite, and chlorite. It is in lenticular shape, about 500 m long and 50–150 m in vertical thickness, and gently dips to the south. Skarn and quartz-sulfide episodes with six stages of mineralization process, and each stage partially replacing earlier stages: prograde (I), retrograde (II), quartz-K-feldspar (III), quartz-molybdenite (IV), quartz-pyrite (V), and quartz-calcite (VI).
