Hosted primarily in the first (Pt3bnw1) unit of the Wuqiangxi Formation, mineralization is controlled by NE-trending faults, manifesting as quartz-veinlet zones and altered fracture zones. The key mineralization stage is the quartz-native gold-polysulfide assemblage.

The Taojinchong gold deposit currently contains 26 ore bodies. The largest ore body within the mine has a relatively simple morphology, being a thick, triaxially equidistant ore body extending 355 m in strike direction. The thickness of the ore body varies uniformly, from thick in the middle to gradually thinning toward the ends. The maximum width of the ore body is 316 m, with widths of 27 m at the north end and 11 m at the south end, for an average width of 114 m. The orebody has a steep dip overall, with some sections nearly vertical, closely matching the overall occurrence of the silicified alteration zone. The orebody exhibits a relatively stable depth profile, with smaller depths at the north and south ends and greater depths in the south-central section of the orebody. The average controlled depth of the orebody is 201 meters, and the average grade is 0.75 g/t.
