Koziakas Range
The Koziakas Ophiolitic Unit occupies the eastern part of the mountain range and comprises an ophiolitic mélange and a subophiolitic metamorphic sole. Massive dolerites, massive basalts and basaltic pillow-lava flows overthrust the mantle tectonites (harzburgites, lherzolites and plagioclase-lherzolites), which are in turn thrust over the ophiolitic mélange and the metamorphic sole. In places the pillow-lavas are intercalated with cherts rich in Mn-oxides. A sparse network of dykes including gabbro, rodingitized gabbro, plagiogranite and dolerite, intrudes the mantle tectonites.
