The Au orebodies are categorized into disseminated- and vein-type. The vein-type mineralization generally exhibits an NWW-striking direction and southerly dip, characterized by a substantial dip angle, whereas disseminated-type mineralization occurs in surrounding rocks as far as 50 m structurally below, and parallel to, the main fault plane. There are more than 20 ore and gangue minerals, but only a few minerals are consistently associated with the gold mineralization. Hydrothermal alterations in the Jinshan gold deposit consist of silicification, sulfidation, sericitization, chloritization, and carbonatization. Three stages, from the oldest to the youngest, have been identified: Stage 1 arsenopyrite- pyrrhotite, Stage 2 quartz–arsenopyrite–gold and Stage 3 quartz–carbonate–pyrite.
