Mineralization at Iron Cap is associated with quartz veining, magmatic breccias, and plagioclase-hornblende diorite dykes intruding the Hazelton Group. However, a significant proportion of mineralization is also hosted within the sedimentary country rocks enveloping the ore-forming dykes. Potassic hydrothermal mineral alteration assemblages (i.e., K-feldspar and magnetite) characterize the steeply-plunging core of the deposit and are overprinted by phyllic to propylitic hydrothermal alteration assemblages (i.e., chlorite-sericite-pyrite).
