Eroded glacial deposits on cobble beaches continuing some 8km south of point.
Amateur collectors have long prized dense, whitish specimens that were believed to be a variety of jade. Popularly labeled as “muttonfat jade”, mineralogical analysis shows that the material is a mixture of fibrous sillimanite and quartz.
