The Shuangqing deposit is a small-sized copper deposit (3.35 Mt ore at 0.40–0.75 % Cu) and is located in the Central Tianshan Block. Exposed stratum in the Shuangqing copper deposit area is mainly quartz sandstone and marble of the Mesoproterozoic Kawabulake Group. In the vicinity of the Shuangqing deposit, quartz sandstone with localized foliated and mylonitized structures is exposed in the northern area, while marble is observed in the northern and southeastern regions. A NW-trending fault is developed and it partially controls the distribution of skarn alteration and copper orebodies at Shuangqing. Devonian I-type granitic intrusions with fractionated characteristics of widespread granodiorite (porphyry) (ca. 390–388 Ma), local foliated granite (408.9 ± 2.6 Ma), and minor K-feldspar granite (only observed in drill cores; 397.7 ± 2.5 Ma) are identified in the Shuangqing deposit area, with the former being associated with alteration and mineralization. The Shuangqing copper orebodies occur as lenticular bodies and veins, which are mainly in contact zone between skarn and granodiorite (porphyry), with the largest orebody of ca. 1100 m long. The copper ores are mainly disseminated and veined structures, as well as local clumpy structure. Four stages of alteration and mineralization paragenesis have been recognized in the Shuangqing copper deposit: prograde alteration (Stage I), retrograde alteration (Stage II), copper mineralization (Stage III), and late hydrothermal veins (Stage IV).
