Ikkari gold deposit
Large gold deposit.
Owned by Finnish company Rupert Finland (2022).
"The prospect would have 3.95 million ounces of gold." (https://www.lapland.fi/business/excellent-potential-for-mineral-exploration-in-lapland-rupert-finland-drills-in-sodankyla/)
The Ikkari deposit, discovered in 2020, occurs near the contact between komatiitic metavolcanic rocks of the Savukoski Group and the overlying Kumpu Group metasedimentary rocks. The mineralization is structurally controlled by the Sirkka shear zone and associated with quartz‑carbonate-chlorite-magnetite alteration mineral assemblages, a typical feature of orogenic Au systems in the CLB. At Ikkari, gold is hosted mainly in disseminated and vein-related pyrite, with occasional visible grains, consistent with other Au-only systems in the region, and the deposit is categorized as an Au-only deposit.
