During the construction of the new bypass road, the excavations carried out to the east of the the Albano Laziale hospital and in other places exposed a pyroclastic level rich in ejecta.
In some calcite marble ejecta, richterite, fluoborite, pyrrhotite, sphalerite, and minor native lead have been found (Caponera et al., 2003). Later, some metamorphosed carbonate ejecta yielded intersting crystal aggregates of artinite and hydromagnesite (Caponera et al. 2004), and also octahedral crystals of periclase (Pucci, 2008 a). Furthermore, sub-millimetric crystals have been found in the small cavities of a marble-like ejectum (Pucci, 2008 b).
Other ejecta, rich in pyroxene, biotite, melilite, sanidine, etc. were also found. In some zeolitized ejecta the presence of phillipsite, chabazite, and thomsonite was observed.
