Stratiform, zinc-rich pyrite-ore in a calcite-containing quartzite in calc-mica schist.
Exactly when mining commenced is unknown, possibly in 1862. In the period until 1870 a total of 3 Kt of ore was extracted, with minor quantities in later times. A remaining 300 tons of ore were shipped out by consul Persson (presumably a Swedish diplomat), in or after 1896.
The ore zone can be followed over a distance of 1.2 km, with interruptions.
Typical ore samples contained ca. 26,1% Zn.
