To the north of Shizuoka City, Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan there is a sequence of sandstones and shales which contains subordinate basaltic rocks in 3 areas (Ohashi, 1980).
It comprises a composite sheet with a lower chilled part of dolerite, overlying which is a 2m thick picrite followed by 40 cm of dolerite, then a basaltic rock for c. 5m, which is traversed by a camptonite vein and has carbonate-filled vesicles concentrated towards the top; the sequence is completed by a vitric tuff, which is then overlain by a further basalt.
