A former underground Au-Pb-Ag-Cu-Zn-Silica-Graphite mine located in North-central sec. 27 and South-central sec. 22, T.14S., R.27E., 2¾ miles NE of the town of Dos Cabezas and East of the Gold Ridge property at 5,900 feet of altitude. Discovered 1878. First produced 1880. Closed 1950. Owned at times, or in part, by T.C. Bain (1880's); the Dos Cabezas Gold Mining Co. (1931- ); Gold Prince Mining Co. (1918-1921); Out West Mining Co. and Bean.

Mineralization includes a series of lenticular bodies of pyritic, gray quartz containing irregular bunches of auriferous base metal sulfides in a zone of intensely sheared and pyrometamorphosed Cretaceous sandstone and graphitic shale along a major fault. Associated rhyolite, andesite and diabase dikes. The shear zone is from 35 to 40 feet wide between very definite hanging- and footwalls. Individual lenticular quartz veins range up to 5 feet wide and about 100 feet long. They occur on both walls and in interconnecting and overlapping lenses in the sheared, schistose rock within the vein zone. General strike of the vein system is about N.70ºW. and its dip is 65ºS. Shale wall rock is considerably altered to graphite. The oxidized zone extends to 200 feet of depth. Essentially quartz reefs in Cretaceous Bisbee Group shale to the north along the Apache Pass fault zone, and with Rapakivi Quartz Monzonite to the south.

Workings are extensive shaft and tunnel workings comprising 5 adits with a total of more than 3,100 feet of drifts within a vertical range of 750 feet. This was the major gold producer of the district with some 10,000 tons produced sporadically from the early 1880's to 1950.
After a sampling trip to the mine in 2013, the mining company removed much of the dump overburden and sent the materials to be smelted for gold values.
