Manganese mines, active from the 1680s to 1946.
The mining area comprises of 76 larger holes belonging to 49 different mines, among the more prominent are Stora Alegruvan, Stora Vivet Mine, Lilla Vivet Mine, Storgruvan, Ulrikagruvan and Vretgruvan.
According to Tegengren (1924) it seems that the vanadinite and edingtonite were only found in Vretgruvan.

Description: Masses of a pale pinkish clay mineral filling the voids between manganite have been labelled as corrensite. However, Ljunggren (1958) analyzed the material by XRD and showed that it consisted of a mixture of rhodochrosite and montmorillonite.
