Minerals in veinlets cutting Middle Silurian Fe-Mn ores about 5 miles (8.05 km) W of Woodstock. The Fe-Mn ores were first exploited in 1848 as iron ore when a blast furnace was erected. Mining was carried out intermittently until 1884. In 1958 the deposits were examined by Stratmat Limited as a potential source of manganese.

Note on the mineral list: Because the stilpnomelane from this locality was never completely characterized, it is possible that it is franklinphilite or parsettensite, due to the manganese-rich environment. Further study of this locality could be fruitful.
