"(Coming from Maussane-les-Alpilles). East of Tarascon, take the N99 [currently the D99 and D99A] until Saint-Rémy-de-Provence. Follow the D5 south. The bauxite quarries are on the right of the D27A towards the Val d'Enfer. These quarries yield pisolitic or oolitic bauxite and calcareous nodules with variously coloured interiors. It is noteworthy that this locality has given its name to the aluminium ore." [Belot, 1978]
