Located 35 kilometres south south-east of Karratha. Ni prospect. North-east of the Elizabeth Hill mine, in the Mount Sholl area.
It is a pyritic chalcedonic silica deposit, with anomalous Ni, hosted in mafic volcanics of the Whundo Group. The deposit was discovered by Westfield Minerals NL in 1969.
The deposit consists of flat lying lenses, and sub-vertical veins up to 50 metres wide, and 250 metres on strike north north-east, in the Nallana Formation.
At the surface, the deposit shows as grey-green chalcedony, with very fine pyrite disseminations, with colloform textures, and vuggy and cellular ferruginous gossan. It contains strong Ni and Co values, moderate Pb and As values, with little in the way of Cu. 1.2% Ni in sulphides.
There is massive iron sulphide and carbonate-sericite alteration in the basalts, interleaved with fine grained siliceous veins. Ore minerals are pyrite, bravoite and millerite.
